The PinPoint Test
Benefits
The PinPoint Test uses artificial intelligence to analyze blood samples and generate a probability that a patient has cancer. It helps clinicians more accurately triage and prioritize patients, identifying those at highest risk to access needed facilities sooner. The test aims to streamline diagnostic capacity, reduce waiting times, improve patient experience, and enhance early detection of cancer. It allows doctors to determine within 72 hours how likely a patient has cancer, enabling them to either prioritize hospital testing or rule patients out of the cancer pathway entirely.

- The PinPoint Test is currently being piloted in the NHS, with real-world evaluations run by the West Yorkshire & Harrogate Cancer Alliance. It was initially launched by Mid-Yorks Hospitals Trust and later by Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust. A pilot is also being established in St Helens. In Cheshire and Merseyside, they are exploring integration into existing laboratory systems but note that at this stage, PinPoint will not be used for decision making. [Source]
